Humanity: The Final Frontier

October 13, 2025 by No Comments

The human spirit longs to realize lofty day dreams.
Yet society longs to call us Icarus.

As children we are easily awed and inspired. Our heroes appear to live in a world beyond our grasp.

However, as we grow older slowly our ability to be awed wanes and our heroes increasingly become mortal. We peek behind the curtain. Cynicism creeps in.

We fall into a pattern of the mundane. We begin to accept the world around us as it should be. We allow the status quo to suffocate us.

Humans have a need to fit in. We are a tribal species. Acceptance.
When many give up on dreams it becomes the norm.
The Majority allow for the death of inspiration.

We are told from a young age to follow our dreams. However there is always an unspoken time frame associated with it.

Eventually they tell you to grow up. However growing up today no longer allows for the presence of dreams and inspiration. Apathy. Potato Chips. Big Screens.

We have replaced the act of living with passive experience.

Why travel and taste local cuisine when we can watch No Reservations. What is the point of bundling up and standing amongst the masses when you can watch the Macy’s Parade on TV.

It has become acceptable to enjoy worlds of fantasy without experiencing the truth. Pornography.

There was a time when more people were inspired by their work. An iron-worker would bring his family to his job site on a Sunday and point towards the growing skyscraper. He would tell them of all the intricacies required to make it stand.

His children would be awed by the structure jutting out of the earth seemingly defying the laws of gravity. They will cringe as their father told them of the blood that he spilled sitting hundreds of feet in the air as he went about his day.

A cowboy in the sky. Who was inspired by his work and put in his all.

In today’s society it is best that we live uninspired lives. Go to work. Do your job to the point that your boss does not have to review your performance. It’s best if your fingerprints are not on anything.

We hate artists until they become famous.
We hate workers that take initiative.

We laugh at those who backpack.
We snicker at those who wish to leave security.

We complain that we no longer have true craftsmen.
We do not enter areas that require inspiration.

We bitch and yet we refuse to solve.

We look at the doldrums of our existence and hope to squeeze out some meaning from it.

We come home and wither away instead of attempting to create something.

We never think of what we will leave behind. We believe that only a few people in history truly make a difference. How quickly we forget the power that we as humans have when inspired.

Alexander would be nothing without his men.
Frank Lloyd Wright a conceptualist without construction workers.
We would be eating berries and roots and not soups and omelettes.

It does not take much to help change the world. All it requires is allowing for inspiration to breed deep within yourself. It requires you to have a dream and vision and to act upon it instead of numbing yourself with vapid diversion.

Imagine every breath as though you just left a coma.
